Hi there I've just returned to knitting after a long break - I say knitting but I never really got beyond scarves:) and I spotted your last minute baby sweater which I thought would be an realistic challenge for me, and would look lovely on my grand daughter. However I seem to be 'stuck' perhaps you could help me?
I've got as far as the neck shaping, work 34 stitches in pattern (place on holder) etc. Do I cut the yarn at this point and rejoin to bind off 16 stitches? Then re-join to work pattern over remaining 34 stitches?
It's probably obvious but I just can't get my head around it.
Also do I start the buttonholes on the stockinette stitch part?
Thank you! For your two questions: 1. you do not need to cut the yarn, just begin the bind off after placing stitches on holder and then continue in pattern on the remaining stitches. 2. One button hole will be worked in the patterned section, the remaining in the stockinette. If you work them as the pattern suggests on the given rows, it will work out that way.
You can also contact me through my ravelry inbox. I see and check messages there on a regular basis.
