On The Fly Mitts

Introducing my latest pattern!

This pattern evolved as car knitting at its best.  I packed some yarn, some needles, and a general idea of what I could make. I was ready for on the fly knitting.  I chose a skein of handspun fingering yarn that had little nubby bits making it unsuitable for socks. I had been wanting to do more mitts and mittens anyway, so pattern choice was made easy.   I thought the yarn would show better with a simple pattern that let the colors and textures show, but was also visually interesting.  Stripes are always a pattern option for me. I also had a ball of leftover sock yarn which contrasted well so, combining the two yarns, I was able to achieve both visual interest and a background for the handspun to play on.

Pair shown also includes a solid color for the cuffs.

The mitt has a long, gently tapered cuff that will warm up the chilliest afternoon.  A little bit of ribbing in the right spot ensures a snug fit across the inner wrist.  A little short row shaping keeps the thumb snug and fitted.

Directions are given for a left and right mitt. (Be sure to make one of each)

This pattern can be knit with either 2 or 3 colors which makes it perfect for stash-busting or using up leftovers.

Pattern Update!

I updated an older pattern to make it more suitable for a beginner knitter. A Simple Neck Snuggler now has a second "Even Simpler" garter stitch option.

One for the Ages

This sock pattern took a little bit of time to get onto paper, but I think it was worth all the effort.

I had the opportunity to take a family trip to China and while I was there, I was inspired to create these socks.  The pattern consists of a mix of irregular ribbing and cables.

May I present ... Dynasty Socks,  Enjoy!

Quickly!

It occurred to me while working with my pattern files that I never published my basic footie pattern.  It is included in Change it Up II, but I thought it deserved a stand-alone pattern as well, so, without further ado, I give you Under the Boardwalk Footies.

Change it Up II - another new pattern!

Change it up II picks up with another pattern continuing the theme of transforming self-striping sock yarn.

This pattern celebrates the stripes and takes self-striping yarn to another level.

For long color sequences, try the Not Your Grandpa's Argyle pattern.

And, Voila! Stripe Magic is for any self striping yarn. .Pair two or more and create a whole new set of stripes.
Mix, match and be merry!

I just released Change it Up on Ravelry.

Change it Up is a three-in-one pattern that is intended to transform self-striping yarn by adding texture and movement as the stitches are created.  Stripes are fun, but sometimes a little something more is nice too. Go have a look!  Or download it here from the pattern page.
